Dinosaur Bar-B-Que

Just to whet your appetite for the impending arrival of Dinosaur Bar-B-Que in Troy, I thought I would share a picture of the lunch I had at the Syracuse location. I had the pulled pork and brisket plate with A.K. (Ass Kicking) chili and black beans and rice. Yummy meats. Also, it is my opinion that if the Troy restaurant really ever does get off the ground it will be perpetually packed to the rafters. I was at the one in Syracuse at about 11:00 on a weekday and it was annoyingly crowded. It was fun listening to the waitresses yell at people to get out of their ways, that is one of Dinosaur's gimmicks, the waitresses have "attitude."


  1. Oh man. I have eaten BBQ all over the dang country, and Dinosaur is the one restaurant that I actively fantasize about. I think I'll have moved by the time the Troy location opens, and I weep every time I think about it.

  3. From the picture, the brisket looks like the best thing on the plate. When it comes to pulled pork, I side with the Carolinas. I'm a bit suspicious of chili topped with green onions and white cheese. And I'm curious about what black beans and rice are doing on a plate of barbecue.

    But I'm told this place is extraordinary, and I'm reserving judgment until I can try the food.

    Very excited to have them coming to the area.

  4. I know this is a fairly old post, but I've stumbled on your blog in hopes of reading about my home town (Rochester). And then I saw this. And then I saw the last comment on here and I had to ask, what do you mean you "side with the Carolinas"? You realize even in the Carolinas there are 3-4 extremely different styles of BBQ. Just saying. Also Dinosaur is awesome. Congrats on getting one.
